The National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) is proud to announce that Gerald (Jerry) McCarty, NFFE National Vice President and Chief Steward of NFFE Local 2189 will serve as the new National Business Representative/Organizer (BR/Organizer) for NFFE locals in the Southwest region of the United States.

In February, NFFE announced that a vacancy for a BR/Organizer position had occurred, and accepted applications for the vacancy. In the last couple weeks, multiple candidates interviewed for the position. On March 28th, McCarty was offered the position, and he accepted.

“I am very excited to see what Jerry McCarty is going to be able to do for the membership of this union,” said Randy Erwin, NFFE National President. “Jerry has all the tools to be a successful BR/Organizer. He brings tremendous energy and is a strong leader. He also has tremendous work ethic and the ability to deliver. Finally, I know Jerry wants to help make this union grow. The NFFE membership will be very well served by Jerry as BR/Organizer of the Southwest region.”

McCarty begins his assignment as BR/Organizer of the Southwest on April 15, 2018. He will have the benefit of being mentored by current BR/Organizer of the Southwest region, Gary Johanson. Gary will spend a good portion of the next several weeks working with Jerry and introducing him to NFFE locals throughout the Southwest. Concurrently, Johanson will be getting oriented with his new territory, the Northwest region, which was vacated by recently retired BR/Organizer Steve Flory.

“I feel very grateful for being selected to serve as a BR/Organizer,” said McCarty. “I look forward to getting out and working with my brothers and sisters throughout the region and across the country. As federal employees and as a union, we have a story to tell, and I look forward to telling that story. I know NFFE is going to be growing like crazy over the next couple decades, and I look forward to playing my part in making that happen.”
