Friday, August 24, 2012

(National Federation of Federal Employees)

The winners of the 2012 IAM Newsletter and Website Contest have been released, and the results are nothing short of incredible.

Of the 46 total awards granted, NFFE took home more than 40% of them, with 19 combined awards. An astonishing 13 of those awards went to five NFFE locals (from four separate agencies) all throughout the country, with the remaining six going to the NFFE National Office. Locals taking home awards this year are:

Local 125, Forest Service, Ogden, UT

Local 1450, Housing and Urban Development, Los Angeles, CA

Local 1998, Passport Agency, Nationwide

Local 2109, Department of the Army, Watervliet, NY

Local 2197, Forest Service, Albuquerque, NM

“To see so many NFFE locals participating and winning awards in this year’s competition is just outstanding,” said NFFE National Communications Director Cory Bythrow. “This is simply confirmation of what all of us have seen over the past several years – NFFE locals are committed to engaging their members and providing a passionate voice to the labor movement. Congratulations to you all on a truly amazing performance.”

Communicator's Role
I'm quite proud in how our Local 125 newsletter has been received by our members and larger audience around NFFE. Communications, keeping one another informed and in touch with issues and concerns, is an imperative element of our Union work. People want and need to know what we've done for them, what we are doing today, and what we can look to tomorrow in our efforts to make their work lives better for them. The Communicator's role in every Local is like that of ye ole town cryer, to keep people aware and alert. My hat's off to all those who put forth the effort to research, write, layout and publish their newsletter. It's work, but imperative to your membership.

Congratulations to FL 2197
Thanks Jessica Farrow for an excellent job on the newsletter....this is really good for our first time entry. The web site also did well and I know it will be even better once we get through the communications class. Thanks to all the members of FL 2197.
