On behalf of the NFFE National Office, we would like to congratulate Ian Hollander of Kalispell, MT, on winning a prestigious IAM Scholarship!

Hollander, son of NFFE Local 1214 member Marsha Moore-Hettick, was one of just 16 applicants to be awarded a scholarship from a pool of nearly 350 hopefuls. He will attend Carroll College in the state capital of Helena, where he intends to major in philosophy with a minor in history. Using the knowledge he gains at Carroll, Hollander hopes to attend law school and ultimately practice environmental law.

“We are so proud to award this scholarship to such a talented and motivated young man,” said NFFE National President William R. Dougan. “Marsha and all of NFFE Local 1214 have a lot to be proud of.”

IAM’s annual scholarship competition distributes tens of thousands of dollars to NFFE-IAM members and their families each year. Our mission is to empower the IAM family to seek higher education in the pursuit of a better future. We see opportunity as the foundational tenet of the American Dream, and we will continue to do our part to educate the next generation of unionists.

“Education is the key to a brighter tomorrow for our members, and the labor movement as a whole,” said Dougan. “We wish Ian great success and happiness as he embarks on his own journey of discovery and enrichment.”
