Today, the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE-IAM) has issued updated guidance and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) regarding the Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) Deferred Resignation Program.
“This so-called program is not rooted in any existing law, regulation, or policy and it should not be treated as an official or legitimate offer,” said NFFE National President Randy Erwin. “The recent correspondence from OPM is insulting to every federal employee and NFFE member, past and present. The federal workforce does not perform ‘low productivity jobs.’ Federal employees provide world-class healthcare for our veterans, maintain our nation’s military readiness, defend our communities from wildfires, and perform innumerable other critical services for this country.”
“This offer from OPM should not be taken seriously,” continued Erwin. “The offer is not bound by existing law or policy, nor is it funded by Congress. There is nothing to hold OPM or the White House accountable to the terms of their agreement. Federal employees will not give in to this shady tactic pressuring them to quit. Civil servants care way too much about their jobs, their agency missions, and their country to be swayed by this phony ploy. To all federal employees: do not resign.”
