Reminder: 2012 IAM Legislative Conference Just Around the Corner

Don’t forget that the 2012 IAM Legislative Conference is just around the corner. The annual conference will be held from Monday, May 14 until its adjournment at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 17 at the Hyatt Regency Washington, in Washington, DC. If your local is sending a delegate to this year’s Legislative Conference, don’t forget to complete the delegate questionnaire form, found here.

Delegate registration will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday, May 14 and from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15. The opening session will begin on Monday, May 14 at 1:30 p.m. Resident General Vice President Rich Michalski will open the conference and will be permanent chair and International President Tom Buffenbarger will deliver the keynote address.

General Sessions will begin at 9:00 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, May 15 and Wednesday, May 16. There will be no sessions scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons so that delegates may lobby on Capitol Hill. All delegates planning to attend the 2012 Legislative Conference should pre-schedule meetings with their Congressional District Representatives as well as Senators for Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. On Tuesday, May 15, the National Capital Area Council Boy Scouts of America will hold its 25th Annual Good Scout Government, Labor and Management Awards fund raiser at the Hyatt Regency Washington. The program consists of a reception followed by the annual Good Scouts awards presentation. We will honor three recipients, one each from government, labor, and management. Tickets to this event are $25 and will be available at the Legislative Conference registration desk, and can be paid by cash or check made payable to “Boy Scouts of America.” We will host a Congressional reception on Wednesday evening, May 16. On Thursday morning, the session will be dedicated to a Conference review and delegates’ lobbying efforts on the Hill.
