Tell Congress: Support Federal Blue-Collar Workers

On January 1, 2014 GS federal employees ended their three-year pay freeze with a modest 1 percent pay adjustment. While that was a positive development, Congress failed to make the same pay adjustment for Wage Grade (WG) federal employees. This inferior treatment from Congress is unacceptable. NFFE is calling on all NFFE-IAM members to call their House Representative and both Senate offices to demand an equitable 1% pay adjustment for blue collar federal workers in 2014.

On November 21, 2013, Rep. Matt Cartwright introduced the Wage Grade Employee Parity Act (HR 3573), a bill that enjoys strong bipartisan support. This legislation would ensure that the percentage increase in rates of basic pay for prevailing wage employees will be equal to the percentage increase received by other federal employees in the same pay locality. NFFE strongly supports HR 3573 and we recommend language being adopted in the 2014 omnibus spending bill that achieves the intent of this bill.

Call your House Representative and both of your Senators in Washington, D.C. today and urge them to support HR 3573 and recommend language being adopted in the 2014 omnibus spending bill to achieve the intent of HR 3573. The Capitol Switchboard phone number is 202-224-3121.
