Washington, D.C. – This week, the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE-IAM) celebrates Public Service Recognition Week, held each year on the first full week of May.
“Public service workers, including federal employees and NFFE-IAM members, are critical to the success of the United States and are the backbone of communities across the country,” said NFFE National President Randy Erwin. “These are workers who selflessly care for veterans, steward our public lands, defend us from wildfires, maintain our military readiness, safeguard our national security, and so much more.”
“Sadly, these dedicated professionals are under attack by the Trump Administration. The President has unilaterally stripped away one million civil servants’ Constitutional right to form and join a union, the largest attack on workers’ rights in the history of our country. Hundreds of thousands of federal employees have been illegally fired or intimidated into resignation, while the President and his supporters in Congress are trying to force through a $4.5 trillion tax cut for the wealthy on the backs of working people.”
“To support federal workers and public servants this week, I urge you to contact your representatives in Congress and demand they stand up to the Trump Administration’s shameful abuse of civil servants and gutting of critical federal agencies. We must ensure that federal employees and the essential services they provide are protected, or the American people will suffer the consequences.”
