Washington, D.C. – In response to the Obama Administration’s recent memo recommending a four-month extension of the federal pay freeze as part of the forthcoming continuing resolution, NFFE National President William R. Dougan released the following statement:
“We are surprised and deeply disappointed by the Administration’s decision not to push for the modest federal pay adjustment that was called for in the President’s budget. After two years of frozen pay, retirement cuts, and diminished budgets, federal employees are reaching the end of their rope. Three more months of frozen pay is fthree months too many. The President said it himself when he asserted that a permanent federal pay freeze is neither sustainable nor desirable. We couldn’t agree more. Federal employees do great work for the American people every day. They deserve a modest pay adjustment, not a political solution.”
