Last week, the Safer Federal Workforce Task Force released updated guidance regarding COVID policies for federal employees and contractors. The protocols remain largely unchanged since the previous updated guidance released in mid-August.

As per the previous guidelines, protocols are differentiated based on COVID-19 Community Levels. Protocols do not vary based on vaccination status, and vaccination status is not being requested from employees, contractors, or visitors when inside federal workplaces.

Masks are only required when COVID Community Levels are high, however, mask wearing is encouraged for those who choose to wear them.

Administrative leave continues to be granted for employees to receive a COVID vaccine and to bring their immediate family to a vaccine appointment.

Lastly, because of the injunction and ongoing litigation regarding the Executive Order (EO) on federal employee vaccine requirements is still in place, implementation and enforcement of the EO continues to be paused.

If you have any questions regarding COVID policies, please contact your NFFE National Business Representative, or NFFE Deputy General Counsel Yvette Piacsek at ypiacsek@nffe.org.
