The National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) is proud to announce that Chris Green, President of NFFE Local 2189 at Red River Army Depot, will serve as the new National Business Representative and Organizer (BR/Organizer) for the Southern Region.

On January 24, 2024, NFFE announced the vacancy for a BR/Organizer position and received many applications for the role. Over the past several weeks multiple candidates interviewed for the job. Green was offered the position this week, and he was proud to accept the position. Green will start in his role with NFFE on April 15, 2024.

“Congratulations to Chris Green on becoming NFFE’s newest Business Representative/Organizer,” said NFFE National President Randy Erwin. “Chris has been working hard for his members at NFFE Local 2189 for many years, and under his leadership, Local 2189 has seen impressive growth. I can’t wait to see what Chris can do for this union as BR/Organizer.”

Chris has a proven track record as a unionist, dating back to 2010 when he first became involved with NFFE as a shop steward at Local 2189. Since then, Chris has led various committees and boards within his local, working his way up to President of Local 2189 in 2021. Chris has also attended many training courses at the Winpisinger Center to bolster his union knowledge and experience.

“To say that I’m honored or even excited for this opportunity to serve as a National Business Representative/Organizer would be a huge understatement,” said Green. “I am extremely proud to be a member of this union and witness the growth of Local 2189 at Red River Army Depot and the national expansion of our union in recent years. Observing the increasing strength each year has been a significant motivating factor for 2189 to step up its organizing efforts on a daily basis. There has been a notable labor movement in this region of the country and when individuals see a union like NFFE that genuinely prioritizes its members, they are eager to be a part of it. I am thrilled to represent NFFE and its members, and to play a part in its future development in the years to come.”
