Just a week after the House approved a two-year freeze on federal pay, it appears that the upper chamber of Congress intends to follow suit.
The Senate on Tuesday introduced its own spending measure, known as an omnibus spending package, which includes a pay freeze like that found in the House version. The language requires a two-year freeze on federal salaries, excluding step increases and bonuses. The freeze will cover fiscal years 2011 and 2012, holding pay at current levels until early 2013.
As NFFE has previously reported, this policy would have a great impact on the long and short term fiscal health of federal employees and their families. To learn what you can do to fight the freeze, click here.
