Government Shutdown Update

There is still a lot unknown about the fate of government operations after the current Continuing Resolution (CR) expires on Friday, December 8.  Republican leaders in Congress indicated that their intent right now is to pass a short-term CR that will expire on Friday, December 22.  The short-term CR is meant to force a deal with Democrats for the remainder of the fiscal year, using the holidays to apply additional pressure on both parties to come to an agreement.

NFFE is working with the leadership of both parties to keep the government running, and also to find a different strategy to alleviate the stress and chaos that would come with such an important vote right before the holidays.  Keep watching the NFFE website and encourage colleagues to sign up for alerts through the website (via the GET NFFE E-NEWS sign-up at the bottom of the homepage).
