Dear NFFE-IAM Brothers and Sisters,
Happy Labor Day to you and your families. This weekend is a celebration of you, and the critical work you do for the American people every day.
This Labor Day is incredibly important for all workers, and especially federal employees, to reinforce their commitment to standing in solidarity with one another in the face of unprecedented threats. Since the start of the year, we have faced the biggest attack on working people in our nation’s history. The current administration has unilaterally attempted to end collective bargaining for over one million civil servants and created a hostile work environment across the federal government. The President has continuously harassed, threated, and fired hardworking people – dedicated federal employees who provide critical services to Americans every day.
But because of your commitment to your union and the labor movement, NFFE and our allies have been fighting back – and winning. We have taken this administration to court and are confident in our legal team’s ability to restore your rights. We are advocating in Congress, working with lawmakers from both sides of the aisle, to reverse these harmful policies. And we are making our voices heard by rallying in the streets and helping our fellow Americans understand how we need to be supporting federal workers, not tearing them down.
Working people have the power to steer our country in a better direction. All of the rights and freedoms we have today exist because workers in generations before us fought for them. Now, it is our turn to fight to safeguard those rights. We must fight to protect our union, and we must fight to protect our democracy – and we can only win that fight if we are in it together.
Brothers and Sisters, thank you for the work you do, and for being dedicated members of our great Union.
