Yesterday, NFFE National President William R. Dougan was honored by the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America with the Good Scout Award for leadership in the labor movement.
The awards, given to four people each year, honor individuals from both the public and private sectors who exude the merit principles of the Boy Scouts in their day to day work. This was the first time a NFFE President had been recognized with the prestigious award.
“It was the principles that my son learned as a scout that lead him to serve his community as a fireman and EMT,” said Dougan upon accepting the award. “The boy scouts have done this for countless young men like him, and it is truly an honor to be recognized by this great organization.”
