We all know NFFE-IAM membership has its benefits in the workplace. More members equals more strength at the bargaining table. More strength at the bargaining table results in a better contract. And a better contract makes life better for all employees. Plus, more dues-paying members at the worksite translates to more political power on Capitol Hill to defend the pay, benefits and due process rights of federal employees – a favorite target for many members of Congress.
But are you taking full advantage of your NFFE-IAM membership benefits? As a NFFE-IAM member, you have access to the Union Plus program – a clearinghouse of discounts, savings and incentives for dues-paying Union members to enjoy. Union Plus program benefits include:
Union Plus Scholarship: Since 1992, the Union Plus Scholarship Program has awarded more than $3.7 million to students of working families who want to begin or continue their post-secondary education. Over 2,500 families have benefited from our commitment to higher education. In 2015, 106 union members and union family members have been awarded $150,000 in scholarships, ranging from $500 to $4,000. The 2016 Scholarship deadline is fast approaching (January 31, 2016), so click here to apply.
Disaster Relief Grants: With the recent number of natural disasters around the country as a result of erratic weather, Union Plus makes available the Disaster Relief Grant to Union members who are facing financial hardship due to a natural disaster. Notably, this money does not need to be repaid. If you or a Union brother or sister has suffered financial hardship as a result of certified natural disasters, check out the eligibility requirements.
