Since Republican Governor Scott Walker introduced a bill to strip state employees of their right to bargain collectively, workers rights advocates and union members from across the country have descended on Madison, Wisconsin, to stand up for their rights.

Joining the thousands of protestors at the State Capitol last week were members of NFFE Local 276, who work at the US Forest Service’s Forest Products Laboratory nearby in the city. Repulsed by the Governor’s unjust attack on the rights of public employees, members turned out in a show of solidarity with their union brothers and sisters.

“It was an unbelievably beautiful experience to look at the throng of protesters and see participation from such diverse Unions as the Teamsters, Sheet Metal Workers, Steamfitters, AFT, Union Pipe Trades, SEIU, AFSCME, Graduate Students Association, United Steel Workers, and many others,” said NFFE National Vice President and Local 276 member John Obst, who was present at the rally. “It makes me so PROUD to be UNION.”

Adding, “When State Republicans attack Wisconsin’s public sector Unions they attack ALL Unions. NFFE’s motto of ‘all for one, and one for all’ was vigorously put into practice by Local 276 Members.”
