NFFE Brothers and Sisters,
On Veterans Day, it is important that we pause to consider the sacrifices made by those who have served in America’s military, defending us both at home and abroad. This day gives us the opportunity celebrate the brave men and women who have protected our way of life and our democracy.
I am especially proud that so many NFFE-IAM members have dedicated their lives not only to military service, but they now continue to serve the American public in the civil service after leaving the armed forces.
NFFE is incredibly proud to represent the professionals working at the Department of Veterans Affairs. We understand that it is a sacred duty to ensure the health and well-being of those who have served. Know that you are deeply appreciated by your union and the Veterans you care for. We salute you for your commitment to serving to our nation’s heroes. It is the duty of this union to fight for you on Capitol Hill so that the VA has the resources and staffing it needs to provide our Veterans with the world’s best care.
In 2022, through NFFE’s affiliation with the International Association of Machinists, NFFE-IAM members were provided valuable resources through the IAM’s Veterans Services Program. This program helps members of our union apply for earned benefits, navigate VA healthcare, and access resources for life after military service. Last year, the IAM announced the program had helped union members receive over $1 million in back pay. We encourage all NFFE Veterans to use these services and see what resources and benefits are available to you.
To all veterans, thank you for your service and for your sacrifice in defending our country.
In Solidarity,
Randy Erwin
NFFE National President
