Washington, D.C. – Today, the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) is pleased to announce that Max Alonzo has been appointed to serve as National Secretary-Treasurer of NFFE. Alonzo will serve the remainder of the current term that was recently vacated by Dave Stamey.
On July 8, 2024, Stamey submitted his resignation effective July 13, 2024. On July 10, NFFE announced a vacancy for the National Secretary-Treasurer position expiring on December 14, 2024. Today, NFFE National President Randy Erwin, after consulting with NFFE’s National Executive Council and considering all applicants, appointed Alonzo to the National Secretary-Treasurer position with the approval of NFFE’s National Executive Council. Alonzo begins his new position immediately.
Alonzo was born in West Covina, California and worked for the U.S. Forest Service for 12 years. He first became a steward for NFFE Local 376 in 2013. He then became the President of his local, serving in that capacity from 2014 – 2016. Alonzo served as the Forest Service Council Vice President for Region 3 before joining NFFE staff as a Business Representative/Organizer in 2020. Alonzo first represented locals in California and most recently represented Land Management locals on a national scale.
“Max Alonzo is an incredible leader who has an outstanding track record of getting things done for the members of this union,” said NFFE National President Randy Erwin. “I have tremendous confidence in his ability to perform with distinction in his new role. Congratulations to Max Alonzo on being named National Secretary-Treasurer of NFFE.”
“I am very excited about this opportunity,” said Alonzo. “I love this union and its members. I can’t wait to get working in this new role and find ways to make this union bigger, stronger and more effective. I am honored to serve as NFFE’s National Secretary-Treasurer.”
