Today, The National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE-IAM) thanks the U.S. Senate for passing a continuing resolution (CR) to reopen the government through January 30, providing long-overdue relief and protections for federal employees, military personnel, and federal contractors who were forced to go without paychecks for more than 40 days during the shutdown.
NFFE is now calling on the House of Representatives to act quickly to pass the Senate CR and end the suffering of workers who had no part in causing this crisis. “Federal employees should never again be used as pawns in political fights that have little to do with them,” said NFFE National President Randy Erwin.
“We thank the Senate for standing up for America’s public servants and their families,” Erwin continued. “For over 40 days, federal employees and contractors carried the burden of political dysfunction through no fault of their own. It’s time for the House to do the right thing: End the attacks on federal workers, pass this CR, and get our government fully back to work for the American people.”
