Washington, D.C. – Today, the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE-IAM) applauds the introduction of the Protect America’s Workforce Act (H.R. 2550), legislation aimed at restoring collective bargaining rights of federal workers targeted by President Trump’s executive order, which unlawfully and unilaterally ends collective bargaining with federal unions.
The bipartisan bill was introduced by Representatives Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) and Jared Golden (D-ME) with an equal number of cosponsors from each party: Reps. Norcross (D-NJ), LaLota (R-NY), Pocan (D-WI), Turner (R-OH), Dingell (D-MI), and Lawler (R-NY). Yesterday, a group of House Republicans sent a letter to President Trump requesting that he reverse course on the executive order.
“President Trump’s executive order is blatantly illegal and unconstitutional,” said NFFE National President Randy Erwin. “It is a direct attack on workers and American democracy. It is clear from this legislation that even lawmakers from the President’s own party recognize that ending collective bargaining for workers is indefensible. Members of Congress know that their constituents and Americans across the country will suffer if this executive order is implemented. Thank you to Representatives Fitzpatrick and Golden for their leadership in protecting the rights of working people and for upholding the Constitution.”
