Washington, D.C. – Today, the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) applauds passage of the 45-day Continuing Resolution (CR) that advanced through Congress late last night. National President Randy Erwin released the following statement regarding the CR:
“Federal employees across the country are relieved that Congress was able to reach a bipartisan agreement to fund our government and avert a shutdown. Approximately 1.5 million federal employees who were set to lose their pay can sleep easy knowing their income is not going to be cut off because Congress could not do its job.”
“I applaud House and Senate leaders for finding a way to get this done when a day ago a shutdown seemed unavoidable. I am encouraged by the bipartisanship displayed today and hopeful that it will be more common going forward in this Congress.
“We are very pleased to see the looming pay cliff for wildland firefighters has been averted for the next month and a half. We still desperately need a permanent fix on wildland firefighter pay, and we need it soon, but at least wildland firefighters can go to work tomorrow knowing their paycheck has not been cut in half.”
