Washington, DC – Today, the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE-IAM) condemned President Trump’s Fiscal Year 2027 budget proposal, which does not include a pay raise for civilian federal employees next year.
“Once again, President Trump has shown his disdain for the dedicated public servants who keep this country running every day,” said NFFE National President Randy Erwin. “It is unconscionable that the White House believes civil servants should not receive a pay increase this year or next year, amounting to a pay cut given the rising cost of living.”
NFFE is advocating for civilian-military pay parity by aligning federal employee pay increases with the Trump administration’s request for military personnel in 2027, which ranges from 4-7% based on rank. In addition, the union is pushing for passage of the Federal Adjustment of Income Rates (FAIR) Act, which would provide a 4.1% cost-of-living increase for federal workers. Federal employees currently trail their private-sector counterparts by more than 27 percent, according to 2024 OPM data, a gap that has only widened amid recent inflation.
“NFFE members and federal employees across the country have suffered immensely since President Trump returned to office,” continued Erwin. “As the cost of food, housing, gas, and other necessities has risen due to the Trump Administration’s policies, civil servants need an adequate pay increase to make ends meet. These are your friends and neighbors, committed to delivering critical services to the American people every day. Their dedication to this country should be recognized and rewarded now more than ever. I look forward to working with Congress to ensure federal workers receive the pay increase they deserve.”
