NFFE locals throughout the country have made a renewed commitment to organizing in the last year; opting into NFFE’s new organizing donation program, developing strategic plans, and reaching out to every bargaining unit employee…and the hard work is paying off!
Last week, NFFE V.A. local 1904 in New Orleans hosted its first official organizing drive of the year. With the support of NFFE National staff, a dedicated organizing committee, and a supportive president and executive board, the local could increase its density by 27 percent in the month of July!
With a gold organizing award under its belt and sixty new 1187s in hand, the local is not slowing down their efforts to bring new members into the fold any time soon.
“We’re committed to making our local stronger for its members, and the best way to do that is to organize every day,” said NFFE FL 1904 local president Louis Jasmine. “Every day there is an opportunity to talk to a colleague about the benefits of union membership and ask them to join. That’s our secret.”
If your local is interested in hosting an organizing drive or is looking for more resources or support to carry out its own organizing strategic plan, now is the time to reach out to NFFE’s National Office. Staff is always available to assist in sending out membership kits, reviewing strategic plans, and working on site to help carry out an organizing drive.
“We’re really excited to see all of the organizing happening within NFFE this year. This union is committed to organizing; it’s the only way to stand up to attacks on federal employees both at the negotiation table and on Capitol Hill,” stated NFFE National President Randy Erwin. “Our organizing success is a clear statement that NFFE will not back down, and that we will do everything in our power to represent our nation’s hard-working civil servants.”
Join us now to take a stand and strengthen our union’s voice – our density is our destiny!
