As part of NFFE’s ongoing efforts to organize and build membership, NFFE is happy to announce the return of our union’s Organizing Donation Program for 2021. NFFE leadership firmly believes that this program is critical to maintaining the progress our union has made in growing our membership over the past few years and will represent an opportunity for NFFE Locals to stimulate membership growth after many months of not being able to prioritize worksite organizing due to the COVID pandemic.
NFFE’s 2021 Organizing Donation Program incentivizes Locals to develop and execute strategic organizing plans in consultation with their National Business Representative and the NFFE National Organizing Department. Locals that qualify and participate in the program will be eligible to receive $80 per net new member recruited to the Local throughout the duration of the program. For instance, if a NFFE Local participating in the program were to increase its membership from 50 members to 60 members, a net gain of 10 new members, then that Local would receive an $800 organizing donation (money sent to the Local) as a result.
“Realistically, now is the first opportunity that many NFFE Locals have had in a couple years to safely achieve membership growth,” said National President Randy Erwin, “That is one of the main reasons I am so excited about this program in 2021. This program has helped many NFFE Locals grow membership in years past, and I think a lot of NFFE Locals are going to have tremendous success with it this year. In many ways, organizing has been on hold as we got through COVID. Now we are finally emerging from it, and it could be a really exciting time for our union.”
NFFE National will begin receiving applications from Locals that wish to participate in the Organizing Donation Program effective immediately. All opt-in materials are due by May 28, 2021. The 2021 Organization Donation Program will conclude Saturday, October 23, 2021, the end of the last full pay period in October.
Below you will find a link to the Organizing Donation Program page that contains links to a memorandum explaining the 2021 Organizing Donation Program, a document spelling out the rules of the program, an enrollment form (for Locals to fill out and submit to NFFE by close of business on Friday, May 28, 2021), and a handy checklist for Locals to use in making sure they have met all the necessary criteria to opt-in.
