The National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) has drafted guidance for bargaining with local officials on returning to workstations during the COVID-19 pandemic and its aftermath.
“NFFE developed this guidance to be a useful tool designed to assist Local leaders in bringing workers back in the safest and most effective manner,” stated Randy Erwin, NFFE National President.
In short, the guidance takes two approaches. One approach is used if an agency agrees to collective bargaining on the reopening steps, and the other applies if an agency does not agree to bargain.
“We are going to do everything possible to make sure NFFE-IAM members have a meaningful voice in the workplace and are returning to safe work environments. This tool is useful for those that never left the workplace due to COVID-19 as well,” continued President Erwin. “We aim to work with agencies through collective bargaining first. If agencies choose not to engage, we pursue other avenues to ensure the voices of NFFE-IAM members are heard.”
The complete guidance is available in the Coronavirus Resource Center under NFFE-IAM Local Guidance.
