Last week, the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) legislative team briefed key House Oversight Committee lawmakers on strategies to defend the civil service from ongoing attacks and to prepare for future efforts to undermine the federal workforce over the next four years.

During the briefing, NFFE outlined the Trump Administration’s anticipated plans to reshape the civil service to its advantage. This began with a push to forcibly downsize the federal workforce – already unfolding through so-called “deferred resignation.” The next phase involves restructuring the federal workforce using Schedule P/C (formerly Schedule F) to install Trump loyalists and embed permanent, unsupervised political operatives.

NFFE is working closely with Congress to uphold the balance of power and reinforce its role as an equal check on the Executive Branch. Lawmakers must affirm that the President is not above the law and that indiscriminately slashing the federal workforce poses serious risks to the nation. NFFE will continue meeting with members and congressional committees to protect our union members and the integrity of the civil service.
