Washington, D.C. – Today, the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) applauds the Biden-Harris Administration for naming Janice R. Lachance as Chair of the Federal Prevailing Rate Advisory Committee (FPRAC). As Chair, Lachance will work as an advisor to Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director Kiran Ahuja on the Federal Wage System, which sets pay rates for blue-collar federal employees whose pay is tied to local prevailing wage levels.
“NFFE is pleased with President Biden’s decision to pick Janice Lachance to chair FPRAC,” said NFFE National President Randy Erwin. “She has a deep and celebrated history of government service and human capital policy. I have no doubt that she is the right person to ensure federal workers are properly compensated for their service to the country.”
Previously, Lachance held the roles of Communications Director, Chief of Staff, Deputy Director, and Director of OPM during the Clinton Administration. Since then, she has served in many capacities as a renowned leader in human resources policy, including time with the National Academy of Public Administration and other non-government organizations in leadership roles. Before her time with OPM, Lachance served as the Director of Communications and Political Affairs for the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE).
“With several decades of professional experience working with federal agencies and labor unions, Janice has ample expertise to lead FPRAC,” continued Erwin. “NFFE has served as an alternate on FPRAC for decades and we look forward to engaging with Chairwoman Lachance once again on behalf of our members to address the critical problems facing Wage Grade workers across the country.”
