Today, NFFE released a new fact sheet that is designed to combat disinformation about the federal workforce.  “The Fight for American Democracy: Dispelling Popular Lies and Myths about the Federal Workforce” is available for public use.

Yesterday, NFFE submitted testimony to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Oversight and Accountability for a hearing addressing post-pandemic backlogs and delays in service of U.S. passports.

Biden Seeks to End Years of Corrupt Decisions with a New FLRA Board

NFFE is calling on Congress to take immediate action to avoid a mass resignation of potentially thousands of federal wildland firefighters. In a letter sent this week to the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, a group of bipartisan Senators echoed NFFE’s request for Congress to act now to address this imminent crisis.

NFFE thanks Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO), Representative Joe Neguse (D-CO), and Representative Katie Porter (D-CA) for reintroducing the Tim Hart Wildland Firefighter Classification and Pay Parity Act, also known as “Tim’s Act.”

Today, the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE-IAM) held a press conference outside the U.S. Capitol to raise awareness of the severe issues facing the federal wildland firefighting workforce.

NFFE praises the Biden Administration’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2024, which addresses several issues relating to the federal wildland firefighter workforce. More than $4.2 billion would be provided to the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Department of the Interior to implement necessary reforms.

In addition to a 5.2% pay increase for federal employees across the board, the budget would provide increased resources in several key areas for NFFE-IAM members at agencies such as Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Agriculture, including the Forest Service.

NFFE calls on Congress to pass H.R. 20, the Richard L. Trumka Protecting the Right to Organize Act (PRO Act), which strengthens workers’ rights to unionize and collectively bargain over workplace policies.
