The debt ceiling bill was passed by Congress and will head to President Biden’s desk for final approval today. Like many in the federal workforce, the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) is disappointed that during a time of extreme inflation, when paychecks are already stretched, an agreement was reached by all parties to hold non-defense spending at flat levels.

Last night, President Biden and Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) agreed on a deal in principle to raise the federal debit ceiling and fund the government through 2025.

Last week, NFFE hosted the Department of Labor’s Office of Workers’ Compensation Programs (OWCP) Director Christopher Godfrey at the Missoula Smokejumper Base in western Montana. Godfrey held important discussions regarding workers’ compensation with the Missoula Smokejumpers and Helitack crews, as well as wildland firefighters at the Ninemile Ranger Station on the Lolo National Forest.
