We are excited to announce that the 2015 class schedule for the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center is now available.
This state-of-the-art training facility is the only one of its kind in the country. Classes are offered year-round on a variety of topics that will help union members become more informed and engaged in our union. The opportunity to attend classes here is one of the many benefits available exclusively to NFFE-IAM members.
For the newest members, the Federal Employees Seminars both basic and advanced are week-long classes that cover the essentials of Union advocacy and labor relations. The class’s topics include legislative advocacy, grievance procedures, arbitrations, collective bargaining, workers’ compensation, and Unfair Labor Practice charges. The instructors take many approaches toward teaching, using discussion, role playing and presentations from NFFE National Officers and staff to facilitate learning. The basic program is held four times a year and accommodates up to 30 students per class. The advanced class is held once in February.
The DOL Compliance Class is a week-long class that covers structure and services, requirements for local officers and how to administer them, information pertaining to bylaws and the IAMAW Constitution, labor management relations, and a step-by-step process of how to run an election, among many other things.
“The number of attendees is obviously a small percentage of our membership. It is the duty of members who attend the training to return to their Locals and share the information, train others and bring new members into this Union,” said NFFE National President William R. Dougan.
