This Sunday is Veterans Day. It gives me great pride to recognize and honor the millions of men and women who have selflessly answered the call to serve in our nation’s armed forces. Veterans Day is a celebration of those who swore an oath to protect our country and placed themselves in harm’s way to do it. We owe these brave men and women our freedom, and on Veterans Day we proudly honor them for their service.On Veterans Day, we thank our NFFE-IAM brothers and sisters who have served. Nearly one-third of NFFE’s current membership are veterans. It gives me tremendous pride to know that so many members of this great union have served in uniform. Thank you, NFFE-IAM veterans, for your service to your country, and thank you for all you do to make this union strong.
We are also extremely proud that a large portion of NFFE-IAM members support our military through their work at Defense agencies and care for our nation’s veterans through their work at the Department of Veterans Affairs. NFFE-IAM members make a difference in the lives of veterans every day. In doing so, we carry on a tradition and fulfill a mission that the members of this union have dutifully carried out for over a century.
