Washington, D.C. – Federal employee labor organizations will host a protest and press event on Capitol Hill to rally against the growing attacks on civil service protections in the Executive Branch.  Career civil servants are increasingly subjected to threats, unlawful punitive actions, and political intimidation.  Federal workers’ unions, lawfully designated and responsible for representing federal workers, are also under attack.

This a public appeal to the U.S. Congress and the Trump administration to not ignore 243 years of lessons learned from the corrupt practices of the past.  Federal employees serve as the operators and watchdogs of the government’s mission to the American people, and federal labor unions protect their right to be treated fairly, without enduring political intimidation or coercion.

Event Hosts: National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE), American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU).

Invited: All federal labor organizations, concerned groups, and federal workers and their families.

Date and Time: Tuesday Sept. 24 from Noon to 1 PM

Location: Capitol Hill Area 9 (East Senate lawn across from Supreme Court)

Speakers: Members of Congress, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, federal labor leaders, and federal workers from across the Executive Branch
