In yet another stunning policy move by the Trump Administration, the White House released an August 2020 presidential memorandum directing federal agencies to no longer withhold payroll taxes for federal employees.

Today, the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE), America’s first federal employee union, announced its endorsement of Joe Biden for President of the United States. NFFE’s National Executive Committee took unanimous action this week to make the endorsement official.

The bill passed with wide bipartisan support to authorize DoD programs and policies for next year. As is tradition, the bill also included many provisions to create or realign policies pertaining to the operations of the government and the effectiveness of the federal workforce.

The 2021 NDAA as passed by the House panel includes a fix to the Federal Employee Parental Leave Act...limits the defense secretary’s authority to exclude certain categories of employees from collective bargaining rights.

“This legislation creates a new grant program that would result in a costly and dangerous use of tax dollars to private entities without any necessary requirements or oversight of the care provided,” said Randy Erwin, NFFE National President.

Today, Randy Erwin, National President of the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) sent a letter to President Trump demanding that the Administration provide federal employees with the tools they need to win the war against COVID-19. The letter is in reply to the lackluster response by the Administration to adequately protect federal civil servants during the pandemic thus far

“Employees of the U.S. Forest Service are furious that USDA will not give an inch on administrative leave for employees that in many cases need time to care for loved ones like children and elderly during the COVID-19 crisis,” said Melissa Baumann, chair of the NFFE Forest Service Council.

The VA is required by law to provide a safe work environment for all employees – including providing personnel with the personal protective equipment (PPE) necessary to protect themselves while caring for veterans and others. While VA leadership claims that all employees have adequate PPE and staffing levels are safe, reports from across the country articulate to the contrary.
